My projector is ceiling mounted and correctly placed so that no keystone correction is required.

The reason software keystone would be awesome is that:
1) Many projectors don't have adjustable keystone
2) Some projectors have a 'fixed keystone' such that they must be placed at a certain angle to the screen.
3) Sometimes it's not possible to place a projector in its ideal (from keystone perspective) location.
4) HTPC keystone adjustment could potentially be much better than the projector's built-in adjustment (eg using aliasing).

I also need some form of correction, because I need to put the projector off axis horizontally, since I have no space behind my sofa. Thus, the projector is not centered.

This is already in DScaler on an experimental basis. It's the linear correction filter.

Do you mean re-mapping pixels? Is the idea?
So a 'column' of pixels is no longer a column, but remapped to a non-vertical line?
This is surely impossible on the Desktop. It may be possible (but not easy) on the Overlay.

This is getting pretty common in desktop PJs. One of the popular ImageProcessors/Scalers (PixelWorks) does a very good job with electronic keystone correction. Also, a newcomer, SiliconOptix, has an ASIC that can do all sorts of crazy geometry mapping and warps. I've not seen either one of these in a PC video card as it's more in the displays domain.

I seem to remember ffdshow offering this. I don't need any keystone as the Z1 lens-shift allows me to compensate for its off-axis positioning, so I've not played with it, but I may be worth a look...

The LT150 that I have has keystone built in. However, I think any time you use any keystone correction, there is degradation in the PQ. It is always better to move the projector to correct the keystoning than with software.
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with every Microsoft product
